2027 UNIMA Council
In March 2027, Montréal proudly welcomes the UNion Internationale de la MArionnette (UNIMA) Council meeting, where representatives from over 50 countries will come together to discuss key artistic, professional and institutional issues affecting the sector.
As UNIMA’s governing body between Congresses, the Council marks an important milestone in the lead-up to the organization’s centennial celebrations in 2029. This world-class event, organized by the AQM on behalf of UNIMA Canada, brings together members and delegates from around the world to address issues that are crucial to the future of the organization.
Held in conjunction with the Festival international de Casteliers, the Council promises to be a friendly, community-building experience, where puppetry artists come together, share ideas and join in celebration with the extended UNIMA family.
March 2 to 6, 2027
The program features:
- Official meetings of the UNIMA Council;
- An Extraordinary Congress on the adoption of the organisation’s new bylaws;
- Lectures, workshops and professional meetings;
- Networking activities to foster international collaboration and exchanges;
- Field trips to iconic cultural and tourist sites; and
- An artistic program in partnership with Casteliers and the OUF! Festival Off Casteliers.
Montréal, cultural metropolis
As the world’s second-largest French-speaking city after Paris, Montréal distinguishes itself thanks to its cultural diversity and quality of life.
Blending European and North American influences, Montréal is characterised by its friendly atmosphere, its accessibility, and the proximity between artists, residents and cultural venues. Participants will be able to make the most of their time in Montréal to explore its neighbourhoods, its cuisine and its many major art institutions.
In early March, the city offers a typical Québécois winter experience: snow-covered streets, cozy cafés, a lively neighbourhood life, and all kinds of cultural activities.
